If you live in NYC and have not done Breakneck Ridge yet you are missing out. It is about 90 minutes up on Metro-North from Grand Central, the train drops you right at the trailhead. It is a steep scramble for the first mile with chains and rock climbing sections but the view of the Hudson from the top is unreal. Go on a weekday if you can because the trail is narrow and weekends get packed. Bring gloves for the scrambles and at least 2 liters of water. There is no shade for the first half. One of the best day trips from the city and it costs like $30 round trip.
